Secto Design is delighted to participate in the third edition of the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale this summer, organized in a unique and picturesque ironworks environment in Southern Finland.
Surprise Guest, one of the two main exhibitions of the event, brings together a group of international contemporary artists and established Finnish design brands in the historic Granary at the heart of Fiskars village.
The exhibition’s themes and architecture are inspired by the spirit of the Finnish summer villa culture, now already a bygone era when city dwellers and their families would pack up their belongings and move to the countryside for the summer.
Taking the notions of home and domesticity as its starting point, the Surprise Guest exhibition unfolds in spaces evoking the different rooms of an imaginary villa. In the living room, Secto Design's timeless, wooden lamps, Nikari's furniture, and Woodnotes's textiles enter in dialogue with the work of the Berlin-based Portuguese artist Leonor Antunes.
The latest addition to the Secto Design lighting collection, the Kumulo pendant, is presented in the exhibition for the first time in Finland.
The exhibition has been curated by Sini Rinne-Kanto, designed by Lauri Johansson and conceptualised and produced by Luovi Productions.
