Secto Design and Conran and Partners join forces for Clerkenwell Design Week 2025

Secto Design is honoured to collaborate with architecture and interior design practice Conran and Partners as part of the 2025 edition of Clerkenwell Design Week. The collaboration takes shape through an immersive window display and a curated exhibition at the Conran and Partners studio on Great Sutton Street in London.

The window installation presents a triptych of themes – Forest & Materiality, Lakes & Reflection, and Light & Contrast – each evoking emotional responses drawn from the Finnish natural landscape. Together, they form a visual narrative that highlights the connection between Secto Design lighting and the natural world that inspires it.

Forest & Materiality celebrates birch, Finland’s national tree and the core material in every Secto Design lamp. The first window piece, positioned on the left, interprets a tree ring section using pressed billets – an expressive nod to the company's design language and material roots.

Lakes & Reflection is inspired by Finland’s moniker as the “land of a thousand lakes.” This theme is conveyed through a reflective central installation using mirrors. Each mirror captures a quarter of four different lamps, creating a poetic sense of water, light, and symmetry.

Light & Contrast pays homage to the brand’s original inspiration: the golden light filtering through a Finnish forest, cast by the sunset as it lingers low over the horizon in the northern sky.

An underlying structure of repetition runs through all three scenes – a visual and conceptual language that is intrinsic to the Secto Design collection.

Inside the studio, the exhibition expands on the themes introduced in the window display, offering deeper insight into the values and processes behind Secto Design. The installation explores the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainable design and craftsmanship. Since its founding in 1995, Secto Design has been a pioneer in the use of certified birch combined with contemporary architectural aesthetics.

A central crate installation narrates the transformation of a lamp – from bark to finished product – highlighting the material’s journey and the refined skill involved in the production process. This is accompanied by a showcase of Secto Design’s latest developments in sustainable packaging, underscoring a holistic approach to responsible design.

The exhibition is open to the public from Tuesday 20 May to Thursday 22 May.
