Secto Design joins SäläSalonki in celebrating Finnish design and architecture

This August, Secto Design will take part in SäläSalonki, an exhibition bringing together contemporary Finnish design, architecture and new creative voices in parallel with Helsinki Design Week.

SäläSalonki is a collaboration between independent design publication Sälä Magazine and nomadic gallery Salonki. The exhibition coincides with the launch of Sälä Magazine’s third issue and expands its theme, Nourishment, into a spatial experience. Exploring the ways in which we nourish our minds, bodies and surroundings, the exhibition brings works by designers featured in the magazine into dialogue with pieces curated by Salonki.

The exhibition takes place in the former social facilities of the Hanasaari power plant, a space opened to the public for the first time this summer. With the redevelopment of the wider Hanasaari area about to begin, the industrial setting offers a particularly timely backdrop for an exhibition exploring the relationship between design, architecture and space.

For Secto Design, participating in SäläSalonki is also about being part of the wider Finnish design community and the ongoing conversation around contemporary design. We believe that a thriving design culture is built through exchange between different generations, perspectives and practices – and by creating space for new ideas and emerging talent.

Through its independent platform, Sälä Magazine gives visibility to emerging designers and creative professionals and encourages meaningful dialogue within the design community. We are pleased to support this initiative and the next generation of designers, while contributing to a setting where different voices in Finnish design can meet.
