This September, Secto Design returns to Habitare with two stands, offering different perspectives on the company and its lighting collection: Forms of Light and The Making of Light.
At Forms of Light, the focus is on the finished luminaires. The stand brings together recent additions to the Secto Design collection by wood artisan and industrial designer Ilkka Kauppinen and architect Seppo Koho – including the new Octo Tre pendant lamp – alongside some of its established designs. The different forms, scales and applications demonstrate how the collection has evolved over the years while retaining a recognisable design language.
Nearby, The Making of Light shifts the perspective from the finished object to what lies behind it. Designed by London-based architecture and design practice Conran and Partners, the three-piece installation interprets some of the elements that have shaped Secto Design’s identity: Finnish birch, skilled making, and the distinctive qualities of northern nature and light. Designed by Senior Designer Amy Blight and the Conran and Partners team, the installation was brought to life by the skilled craftspeople at Secto Design’s factory in Heinola, Finland, and first revealed at Clerkenwell Design Week in London.
Alongside the triptych, the individual materials and components of a single Octo Tre pendant lamp are laid out for view, revealing the relatively small amount of material behind its ability to shape light and influence the atmosphere of a space.
Together, the two stands offer a shift in perspective: from the forms we recognise to the materials, decisions and people behind them. In the spirit of Habitare’s 2026 theme, Plot Twists, the familiar is approached from another angle, revealing another side of the story.
Amy Blight will also appear on the Habitare main stage, sharing how unexpected turns have influenced her professional journey and approach to design.
