The award-winning Adilo pendant lamp is now on display in the Design on Stage 2026 exhibition at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany. Located in the former boiler house of the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is the world's largest museum dedicated to contemporary design.
Opened on July 7 2026 and on display until July 1st 2027, the exhibition presents award-winning products from 43 countries recognised for outstanding design quality by the independent Red Dot jury. Together, the exhibits demonstrate how designers are responding to today's social, technological and ecological challenges, offering visitors an overview of the latest developments in international product design.
Designed by wood artisan and industrial designer Ilkka Kauppinen, Adilo received the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026 in April. The jury praised the luminaire for "combining aesthetic sophistication with environmental awareness" and demonstrating "how traditional materials can bereinterpreted."
Manufactured in Heinola, Finland from PEFC-certified Finnish birch, Adilo transforms from a flat wooden disc into a three-dimensional luminaire with a single movement. Its innovative construction reimagines the possibilities of wood while remaining true to Secto Design's enduring belief that the most lasting designs are those that unite ingenuity with timeless appeal.
