Secto Design at Habitare 2026:
Octo Tre and The Making of light
This autumn, Secto Design returns to Habitare with two stands offering complementary perspectives on the company and its lighting collection. Forms of light presents the latest additions to the collection alongside established designs, while The Making of light turns the focus to what lies behind them – the makers, materials and manufacturing.
Forms of light – new and established Secto Design luminiares
At Forms of Light, the focus is on the finished luminaires. Recent designs by wood artisan Ilkka Kauppinen and architect Seppo Koho are presented alongside established models from the collection. The different forms, scales and applications show how the Secto Design collection has evolved over the years while retaining a recognisable design language.
Octo Tre, the most compact interpretation of the popular Octo design, will also be presented in Finland for the first time. Made from form-pressed Finnish birch, its wooden slats conceal the light source while allowing light to filter softly through the shade. With its visually light presence, Octo Tre works particularly well above smaller tables and surfaces, as well as in grouped arrangements.
The Making of light – what lies behind the designs
Nearby, The Making of light shifts the perspective from finished products to what lies behind the designs. Designed by London-based architecture and design practice Conran and Partners, a three-part installation interprets key elements of Secto Design’s identity: Finnish birch and the distinctive qualities of northern nature and light. The triptych was designed by Senior Designer Amy Blight and her team and brought to life by the skilled craftspeople at Secto Design’s factory in Heinola, Finland.
Alongside the installation, the materials and components of a single Octo Tre pendant lamp are displayed individually, illustrating how relatively little material is needed to create a luminaire that can have a meaningful effect on the atmosphere of a space.
Together, the two stands shift the focus from recognisable forms to the materials, decisions and people behind them. This change in perspective resonates naturally with Habitare’s 2026 theme, Plot Twists, which invites us to look at the familiar from a different angle and leave room for life’s unexpected turns.
