Unfolding Adilo, the latest Secto Design pendant lamp

Secto Design introduces Adilo, a luminaire that marks a bold new chapter in the Finnish company’s thirty-year history. Adilo merges the brand’s signature elements – Finnish birch wood and geometric precision – with an innovative fold-out structure. From its initial flat form, the logistical marvel unfurls into a sculptural pendant lamp in a single motion.

Introducing a new creative perspective

While unmistakably Secto Design in spirit, Adilo brings a new creative perspective to the collection. Designed by Finnish wood artisan and industrial designer Ilkka Kauppinen (b.1988), a graduate of the LAB Institute of Design and Fine Arts, the lamp is the result of years of refinement. Alongside his work designing and crafting unique furniture and bespoke saunas, Kauppinen explored the spatial potential of ultra-thin plywood, ultimately shaping a lamp that evokes the patterns in nature. The design found its natural home with Secto Design, a pioneer in wooden lighting renowned for its inventive use of certified birch.

Following its Milan debut, Adilo arrives in Copenhagen

The extensively design-protected Adilo pendant lamp comes in two sizes. After its first appearance at Milan Design Week this spring, the Adilo pendant lamp is now on view at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen. Visitors are invited to experience the sculptural piece at the joint showroom between Secto Design and the fellow Finnish companies Nikari and Woodnotes, where the calm Nordic atmosphere complements the lamp’s natural elegance.

The Copenhagen presentation will also feature other highlights from the Secto Design collection, including the airy Kumulo pendant lamp, winner of the iF Design Award 2025, and he Owalo pendant lamp, now enhanced with entirely new technical features. As with all Secto Design luminaires to date, these pieces are the work of acclaimed architect and designer Seppo Koho (b. 1967).

Located in the heart of Copenhagen, the Secto Design showroom offers an inspiring setting to explore the full collection. Join us during 3daysofdesign to discover how wood, craftsmanship, and enduring design come together in a new light.
