SECTO DESIGN TO ROTTERDAM

HIRAMEKI IN JAPAN

Secto Design participates in the Hirameki design export initiative organised by Design Forum Finland during the Tokyo Designers Week in autumn 2010. The aim of Hirameki is to support design exports and promote cooperation between Finnish designers and Japanese firms. The patron of the initiative is Stefan Wallin, Finland’s Minister of Culture and Sport. www.hiramekidesign.com

THE BEST OF FINNISH WOOD

Secto Design lamps are on display at the Best of Finnish Wood exhibition by the Craft Museum of Finland in Jyväskylä from June 10th until 5th December 2010. In 2011 the exhibition will move to The Finnish Forest Museum Lusto located in Punkaharju. The exhibition aims to exhange thoughts on the future of wood-related knowledge and skills in Finland. www.craftmuseum.fi, www.lusto.fi

SECTO BECOMES PART OF MUSEUM COLLECTION

The Secto 4200 pendant lamp will become part of the permanent collection of the Craft Museum of Finland, located in the town of Jyväskylä. The Secto Design line started with the birch Secto 4200 in 1999 and the wooden pendant is already considered a classic. www.craftmuseum.fi

SHANGHAI WORLD EXPO 2010

Secto Design lamps have be chosen for the Finland pavillion Kirnu at the Shanghai World Expo. Our lamps are displayed both at the exhibition and at the VIP sauna facilities. The World Expo is open from May 1st to October 31st 2010 and 70 million people are expected to visit the area. www.finlandatexpo2010.fi

DIMMABLE ENERGY-SAVING BULBS

Secto Design recommends the use of energy-saving bulbs, which consume less energy and produce less damaging heat than incandescent bulbs. Many bulb manufacturers have now also available special dimmable energy-saving bulbs, which can be used with dimmer switches.

ATTO AWARDED BY IF

The Atto pendant lamp has been selected as a winner of the iF Product Design Awards 2010 by an international expert jury for innovative, ecological and functional high quality design. Atto will be on display at the exhibition for the iF prizewinners at the Hannover Exhibition Center from March to August. The Online Exhibition will open in March as well. In addition Atto will be featured in the iF Product Design Yearbook. www.ifdesign.de

The successful Atto pendant has also been included in the Hitguide collection by imm cologne. Hitguide features innovative design highlights selected by trend scouts.

MAGNUM IN THE HABITARE COLLECTION

The Magnum pendant has become part of the Habitare Collection established by the Design Museum and the Finnish Fair Corporation. The collection was displayed for the first time at the Habitare fair in Helsinki in September 2009. The collection consists of 31 interesting international design products and it became a part of the Design Museum collections after the fair. www.designmuseum.fi

As a producer of electrical equipment Secto Design takes care of its producer responsibility as prescribed in the Finnish waste legislation based on the EU's WEEE directive. Secto Design has organized the recycling and waste management in cooperation with the Finnish SELT Association. www.elker.fi
